  • Select this form when substantial evidence of error has occurred, as defined in the Complaint Policy and Procedures for Students, AND your attempts to resolve the final course grade dispute with the instructor, both verbally and in writing, were unsuccessful.

  • A student may have grounds to appeal a grade if there is substantial evidence that the grade was assigned:

    1) On some basis other than performance in the course.
Example: The grade was influenced by personal bias or unrelated factors rather than the student’s actual academic work.

    2) Using standards different from those applied to other students by the same instructor.
Example: The instructor graded one student more harshly than others for the same type of work.

    3) By an unannounced departure from the instructor’s previously articulated standards (as represented by the syllabus of record).
Example: The instructor changed grading criteria mid-semester without notifying students, and this change negatively impacted the student’s grade.
